Just a dream

ANITA’S CAR; SUNSET; DRIZZLE

Anita is sitting in her car. She is wearing a black dress and her eyes are red from crying. She drives her car to a church and she parks her car next to the entrance of the church.

CHURCH; SUNLIGHT SHYNING THROUGH THE WINDOWS

In the church are people sitting, whispering to each other. Many of these people are U.Z.Z. agents. In the front of the church is a coffin standing. The coffin is closed. Two agents of U.Z.Z. are standing at the entrance of the church. The doors are still open and they are whispering to each other.

Agent 1: It is really bad that he to go this way. He was just as old as I am.

Agent 2: I heard that he tried to save his partner. And she is still alive. Agent 2 looks to his watch And now she even dares to come too late at the funeral of her own partner.

The two agents want to close the doors, but just when the doors are almost fully closed, Anita walks through the doors. She looks to the two agents and she walks further. She looks up and she stands still, her eyes focusing on the coffin. Suddenly, she falls down on her knees.

Ray runs up to her and he helps her back at her feet.

Ray: Come on Anita. I’ll bring you to your seat.

Ray brings Anita to the front row and Anita sits down next to Mildred. Mildred places her hand on Anita’s hand and they look to each other.

Mildred: It will be all right, Anita.

Anita just simply nods and she looks to the preacher. The preacher starts to talk, but the sound becomes hazier every second.

Anita: He was gone within a minute. I wish I wasn’t so stupid back then, so this would never happen.

The view becomes blurred and Anita’s memories brings her back to the day where it all started

===BEGIN FLASH-BACK===

A GREEN FIELD; NOON; CLOUDY

Anita is flying on her sky-bike over a big green field. Not in the nearest neighbourhood is there a single house or building to see.

Anita (angry) : There is no way that I go back there. Accusing me for double-crossing U.Z.Z. It’s unbelievable! Anita sighs. All those years of saving the planet and this is how they thank you!

Suddenly, Victor appears, just a few yards away from Anita.

Victor: Anita! Wait for me! Victor manage to fly next to Anita, but she refuses to talk. Please Anita, I’m your partner for years. Do you really think I would believe such a thing? You’re too good to be a double-agent. I know you like no one else knows you. You would never do such a thing.

Anita stops suddenly and she looks to Victor.

Anita: Please, leave me alone.

Victor wants to say something, but his communicator starts to ring.

Victor: What is it, Professor Professor?

Professor Professor: An unknown enemy. You and Anita need to investigate it who or what it is and find out what or who it wants.

Anita (really angry) : I’m not going as long you are accusing me for something I never did and never will do!

Professor Professor (annoyed) : Suit yourself. I’m not going to apologize.

Victor: Please guys. Not over my communicator.

Professor Professor: Victor, you go to the enemy. Let Anita cool down a little bit. Professor Professor disappears from Victor’s communicator and Victor looks to Anita before he leaves her alone.

Anita (muttering) : There is no way I’m going to that… that thing. She looks to the spot where Victor was and she sighs. Alright, I’m going. But only for Victor’s sake. Anita flies into Victor’s direction.

IN THE CITY; RAINY

The rain falls down when Anita flies through the city. A small group gathered around something and Anita lands her sky-bike near the group. Anita walks to the group and she sees Victor’s sky-bike standing there. Ray appears in Anita’s sight and he holds her back.

Ray: Just stay here, Anita.

Anita looks into Ray’s eyes.

Anita: Ray? What is going on? (Concerned) Is there something wrong with Victor?

Ray looks to Anita and he leads her to Victor’s sky-bike.

Ray: Anita, before you see anything, just remember we did the best we could do and that this isn’t your fault.

Anita (worried) : Ray, what happened to Victor?

Ray walks with Anita to Victor’s sky-bike. In front of his sky-bike, is Victor lying on the ground. Anita runs up to Victor and she kneels down next to him.

Anita (sad) : Victor! No, please, don’t be… you can’t just leave me… (Tears start to swell up in her eyes, whispering) Please, Victor, please wake up, even if it’s just for me.

Ray walks up to Anita and he kneels down next to her.

Ray: Anita, he isn’t coming back.

Ray pulls Anita softly to him and Anita starts to cry.

Ray (whispering as he holds Anita near) : It’ll be alright, Anita. Don’t cry. Everything will be all right.

===END FLASH-BACK===

CHURCH; FIRST ROW

Mildred looks to Anita and Mildred softly squeezes in Anita’s hand.

Mildred (whispering) : Believe me, Anita. Everything will be all right.

Anita looks to Mildred and Anita smiles a little bit.

Anita (whispering) : I know, Mildred. I hope everything will be all right soon. I’m so sorry.

Mildred (whispering) : Don’t be, dear. It wasn’t your fault

Mildred and Anita look to each other and they hold each other hands tight.

===BEGIN FLASH-BACK===

MILDRED’S HOUSE; DRIZZLE; AFTERNOON

Anita stands in front of Mildred’s house. She sighs and she walks up to the front door. She knocks on the door. A few moments later, the door goes open and Mildred appears in the doorframe.

Mildred: Anita, what brings you here?

Anita (sadly, whispering) : There is something I need to tell you, Mildred.

Mildred looks to her and she let Anita into her house. Anita sits down on the couch and Mildred sits down next to her.

Mildred (worried) : Anita, what’s wrong?

Anita: Mildred, it’s…it’s Victor.

Mildred looks to Anita and Mildred grabs Anita’s hand.

Mildred (whispering) : What happened, Anita?

Anita (voice shaking) : He needed to find some unknown enemy. And I didn’t want to come with him. And now… (tears are running down Anita’s cheeks) now he’s…

Anita starts to cry.

Mildred (trembling voice) : When did it happen?

Anita wipes away the tears from her cheeks and eyes and she looks to Mildred.

Anita: A few moments ago. I wanted to be the one who would tell you this news. I’m so sorry, Mildred. If I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn’t…

Mildred: Anita, there is nothing you could do. Nothing could tell you that this was going to happen.

Mildred pulls Anita close to her and they start to hug each other, while the tears run down their cheeks.

==END FLASH-BACK===

GRAVEYARD; IN FRONT OF A GRAVE; SUNSET

Anita, Mildred and Ray are standing at a grave. They’re all just looking to the grave, all of them still not believing that Victor actually passed away. Kowalski walks up behind Rayand she whispers something in his ear.

Ray: I’m sorry, but I need to go. (Looks to Anita) You know where you can find me when you need me

Anita nods and Ray walks away. Anita and Mildred look to each other.

Mildred: It’ll be alright, Anita. Sooner or later, we’ll both get used to the fact that Victor isn’t with us anymore.

Anita looks from Mildred to the grave and she shakes her head.

Anita (whispering) : I will never get used to that. I will miss a partner for the rest of my life.

Mildred grabs Anita’s hand

Mildred: Anita, you can spend the night at my place, if you want. Just for tonight or for some nights.

Anita looks to Mildred and she smiles a little bit.

Anita: Maybe I will.

Mildred smiles and she softly squeezes Anita’s hand.

Mildred: I’ll see you tonight, then.

Mildred leaves Anita alone at the grave. Anita looks to the grave and she falls down on her knees. The tears slowly fall down on her cheeks.

Anita (whispering) : Why, Victor? Why you? I wish I wasn’t so stupid to let you go alone. I wish I wasn’t so stubborn. I wish this didn’t happen.

Anita stands up again. She wipes the tears from her eyes and cheeks and she looks just one more time to the grave before she walks away from it.

Voice: Anita.

Anita turns around, but she doesn’t see anybody.

Anita: Victor, is that you?

Something appears above Victor’s grave. The thing gets slowly a shape of Victor’s body. Anita slowly walks back to Victor’s grave.

Anita: Victor? But how…what…what’s going on?

Victor’s spirit: Anita, listen to me. There is a way to escape from this.

Anita (confused) : Escape from what?

Victor’s spirit: From this nightmare. This is just a dream, Anita. Doctor Doctor got another Dream Crystal. And this time, she trapped you in this nightmare. I am here to tell you that there is a way of escaping from this.

Anita: But how, what do I need to do?

Victor’s spirit: Doctor Doctor hid the Dream Crystal somewhere in this dream world. The only thing I know is that I am the clue. Find the crystal and destroy it for once and for all. This need to be done within twenty-four hours, otherwise you’ll be living in this nightmare forever.

Anita: That’s all? What do you mean with ‘I am the clue’?

Victor’s spirit: I’m sorry, Anita. But that’s all I know.

Victor’s spirit starts to disappear.

Anita: Please, Victor, don’t go.

Victor’s spirit: I’m sorry Anita.

Victor’s spirit disappears completely and Anita looks to Victor’s grave, not believing that this all just happened.

Anita (whispering to herself) : Come on, grab yourself together, Anita. There is no way that this is true. You’re just dreaming it. Anita walks away, but it seems like she doubts about something. There is no way that this just happened. (Sighs) Maybe you’re just tired and you really need to go to Mildred’s place. Maybe that’s all.

MILDRED’S HOUSE; LIVING ROOM; NIGHT

Anita is sitting on the couch in Mildred’s living room. Mildred walks to her and gives her a cup while she looks to Anita with a worrisome face.

Mildred: Try to drink something, Anita. Maybe warm milk with honey will relax you a little bit.

Anita gives Mildred a little smile and Mildred sits down at the couch.

Mildred (whispering) : It will be hard at the beginning.

Anita looks to Mildred and then she shakes her head.

Anita: It’ll be always hard for me. Anita looks to her cup while the steam rises from her cup. I had this weird vision. I saw Victor’s spirit at the graveyard. He said something about that this was all a dream and I needed to destroy the Dream Crystal, which is hidden in something where Victor is the clue of.

Mildred: You two had to stop Doctor Doctor while she was using her Dream Crystal, right? Anita nods. So, why couldn’t it be a possibility?

Anita: Because we destroyed it once before. There is no is no way that there is a second one.

Mildred: If this means we can get Victor back, we need to do everything that we could do, even though it sounds impossible. Mildred grabs Anita’s arm softly. We should do what ever we can to get Victor back.

Anita looks to Mildred and she nods.

Anita: Maybe you’re right. She stands up and gives Mildred one last hug. I hope we’ll get Victor back.

ANITA’S HOUSE; LIVING ROOM; NIGHT

Anita is looking around. She is sitting in the middle of her living room and stuff is lying around her in her living room.

Anita (whispering) : Victor is the clue. (sighing) What could he ever mean with that? Anita stands up and looks around. Everything looks normal to me. How would I ever be able to find the Dream Crystal like this?

Suddenly, her communicator rings and Anita picks it up.

Mildred: Did you find it, Anita?

Anita: I’m sorry, Mildred. Everything seems too normal for me. Did you find anything?

Mildred: No, but I know it has to do something with the two of you.

Anita: But I have no idea what Victor meant with it. Why couldn’t he just say where it was, because time’s running out.

Mildred: You have less than fifteen minutes to find it.

Anita nods and she sighs a little bit.

Anita: I’m sorry, Mildred. But I think that Victor’s spirit was just hallucination. I shouldn’t gave you false hope for getting him back.

Mildred: It’s alright, honey. It’s just that we both wanted him back so badly, that we both believed that we could get him back.

Anita looks to her clock.

Anita: Just five minutes left. She looks around and suddenly she sees something. She walks to a frame with a picture of her and Victor in it. Mildred, I guess I found it.

Mildred: Are you serious?

Anita looks to the frame, which got a green glow all around it.

Anita: I hope so. It’s a picture of me and Victor and if I have to destroy it, I…I don’t think I can destroy it. It’s one of the fewest things from Victor that I have left.

Mildred: We have to take that chance, Anita. It’s that or nothing. We don’t have much time left, so do it now!

Anita: Okay, here it goes. She throws the frame onto the ground and the frame breaks into thousand pieces. Anita looks to it and she suddenly falls down.

ANITA’S HOUSE; BEDROOM; MORNING

Anita turns around in her bed and she suddenly wakes up.

Anita: Victor! Anita looks around and she sighs. It was all just a dream. But still, it looked so real. She grabs her communicator and she dials a number.

Victor: Anita? Do you know what time it is?

Anita: I’m sorry, Victor … but … it sounds silly, but I had a terrible dream and I just needed to …

Victor smiles a little bit.

Victor: It’s alright. Hey, we have just two hours left before we go to work, so… how about we have breakfast together at your place? You can tell me all about your dream.

Anita (smiling) : You’re such an amazing partner. I’ll see you later.

Victor: I’ll see you within an hour. I’ll go and fresh up first. Victor smiles and he disappears from the screen.

Anita gets out of her bed and she looks around before she leaves her room.

Anita: I’m so glad everything is just a dream.

ANITA’S HOUSE; LIVING ROOM; MORNING

Anitawalks into her living room. The doorbell starts to ring and Anita opens her front door. At her front door is Victor standing.

Anita (smiling) : Come on in. She lets Victor into her house and they walk into the living room.

Victor: Well, you sounded a little bit worried, so I figured it was the best to come and have breakfast with you. He starts to smile and suddenly something catches his eyes. You didn’t have any thieves here, right?

Anita (worried) : No, I would have heard them if there were any thieves. Why are you asking that?

Victor: Because something or someone broke my present. He kneels down and he picks something up. The frame with our picture in it is broken. Anita kneels down next to Victor and she looks to him in shock. What is it?

Anita: I needed to break the frame because Doctor Doctor’s Dream Crystal was hidden in it.

Victor grabs softly Anita’s hand and he looks into Anita’s eyes.

Victor: Anita, you’re talking in riddles.

Anita: That was in my dream. I needed to find the Dream Crystal and break it.

Victor: Come on, let’s go to the kitchen while you tell me about your dream. They walk to Anita’s kitchen while Anita tells Victor about her dream. It could be true, but I guess we’ll never know for sure.

Anita: I just hope it won’t happen ever again. (sighs) Once is more than enough.

Victor places an arm around Anita’s shoulder and gives her a kiss on her cheek.

Victor: It won’t happen ever again. I’ll take care of that.

Anita looks to Victor and gives him a smile.

Anita: Well, since we took care of that… how about breakfast?

Victor smiles and sat down at the kitchen table.

Victor: I thought you would never say that.
